Cottage Meeting FAQ

What is a cottage meeting?

A cottage meeting is a small, informal gathering—like a more personal town hall or “Meet the Candidate” event—typically held in someone’s home or local business. The host invites neighbors and community members to meet Marsha, hear about her vision for the city, and ask questions about the issues that matter most to them. It’s a chance for real conversation, honest feedback, and meaningful connection, often over light refreshments. These meetings are a great way to voice your concerns and learn how Marsha plans to make a difference in our community.

Marsha will speak with attendees, respond to questions, and mingle with guests. Her team will bring materials like campaign handouts, a volunteer sign up, and a donation QR code.

What does the host of a cottage meeting do?

A cottage meeting host typically does 3 main things:

  1. Open their home or business for the meeting
    • If you do not have a space available, we can secure one for you
  1. Invite the guests: Invite neighbors, friends, and community members to attend
    • We can provide a digital invitation for printing or virtual distribution upon request
  1. Provide light refreshments: if you are comfortable with invitees snacking, lemonade, cookies, or fruit are all great options to make people feel comfortable.
    • Marsha’s team can provide these refreshments instead upon request.

Conclusion

Hosting a cottage meeting can seem scary, but many people in the community are grateful when they have an opportunity to learn more about candidates. Additionally, cottage meetings are one of the most effective ways for Marsha to connect with residents. Thank you so much for your interest in helping!
