Government exists to serve the people—to make life easier, not more complicated. It should operate with transparency, clarity, accessibility, and accountability, ensuring that every resident understands local processes and feels heard. A strong city government plans for the future and clearly articulates a vision for responsible growth.

As mayor, I will champion:

Open & Transparent Decision-Making – Every resident should know how and why decisions are made. I will ensure the city government operates with integrity and public input.

Efficient & Effective Services – From permitting to road maintenance to waste management, city services should work smoothly and be easy to navigate.

A Thriving Economy – Supporting local businesses, attracting innovation, and fostering a strong job market will keep Provo vibrant and sustainable.

Provo is growing, and the choices we make today will shape its future. Let’s build a city that works for everyone—where families, students, professionals, and businesses can all thrive.

Together, we can ensure Provo remains a place of opportunity, prosperity, and a great community to raise a family.

Marsha, I moved from Salt Lake City to Provo almost 3 years ago. I am in District 61 and so about a year ago your role as state representative came to an end. I live close to new Provo High School where seemingly the planning did not include enough parking for students and the cafeteria is too small. The land across Bulldog Rd from the school, which developers want to build approx. 72 units on 12 acres, COULD be used for more high school parking, even allowing food trucks to use the closest paved area of that parking. You should be relatively familiar with the land I’m referring to. My neighbors and I are not happy about the housing idea, literally in our backyards. What are your thoughts about this if you were to become mayor?

    • Donna, I would love to see more flexible zoning around Provo High to accomodate local services and/or retail. I think a food truck area would be amazing! If I become mayor, this is an area that the School District, residents, the City, and planners should get together and collaborate on to figure out the best usage. With the School District and Provo sharing boundaries, we should be better partners and working together for the good of students, families, and Provo. We could do better supporting safe routes to school, boundary issues, transportation, parking, services, apprenticeships/internships, etc.

I am curious about your thoughts regarding the proposed relocation of the water park to the mouth of Slate Canyon. The area residents are very clearly opposed to this plan, but I’m not sure we are being heard.

    • I do not support this plan. I would like to help the owners of Splash Summit figure out a good alternative–maybe west Provo would work? What do you think?
