When you run against an incumbent, the question is always the same: Why?

Here’s my answer.

I’m running for Mayor because I believe Provo needs leadership that is transparent, proactive, and responsive to residents. I bring a different kind of experience and a proven track record of hard work and solving difficult problems with practical solutions.

I hold a Master’s in Public Administration and teach quantitative reasoning at UVU. I understand how to interpret data, set measurable goals, and define success in ways that actually serve people.

I’m passionate about open communication and collaboration. As your mayor, I’ll ensure residents and the City Council aren’t left out of major decisions. No one should be surprised by what’s happening at City Hall.

I’ll champion local businesses and work to reverse Provo’s declining sales tax revenues by making the city more business-friendly. That includes revisiting zoning—especially around areas like the new Provo High—to allow for more neighborhood services and retail. We can do more to support and grow our existing businesses.

Provo’s licensing and permitting processes are outdated and frustrating. It can take months—sometimes years—to get a business license or something as simple as a backyard deck permit. That’s unacceptable. I’ll streamline city services, cut red tape, and make it easier for residents and businesses to get things done.

I bring six years of experience in the Utah Legislature, where I earned a reputation for building coalitions and passing effective, bipartisan legislation. I served on the largest appropriations subcommittee, where I helped manage billions in taxpayer dollars with accountability and efficiency.

I’ll bring that same fiscal responsibility to Provo—fixing broken systems, setting goals and priorities, and being honest about hard decisions. I’ll keep an open door and be out in the community, listening and learning from residents in every part of the city.

I believe in proactive planning that protects Provo’s character while preparing for its future. The airport and new sewer treatment plant are great steps forward—but we still lack a clear, unified vision. We need updated master plans for growth, transportation, and land use that reflect today’s realities and tomorrow’s needs. I have ideas—and I’m ready to share them.

As a community builder, I know how to bring people together and find common ground. The neighborhoods that are thriving will continue to thrive—but I’ll also focus on lifting up the areas that have felt left behind.

I’ve seen what’s possible when cities lead with vision. I want Provo to be the leader of Utah County. That takes experience, planning, and the ability to bring people along. I’m ready to get to work—and I hope to earn your support.
