WEEK 3

Happy Thursday! I have had a great time serving District 61 in the general session so far. This week, I have been working to get 3 of my bills approved by House committees. My bill to increase sexual assault victims’ access to HIV testing results passed the House of Representatives on Tuesday and will now go through the Senate.
IN THE NEWS

Today I was interviewed by Hailey Higgins at FOX13 News about HB 68 – Rental Expenses Disclosure Requirement. This bill requires property owners to disclose rental fees upfront. I sponsored this bill to protect renters from hidden fees and to help property owners lease to tenants who can meet their rental obligations. For more information, here’s the article link: https://www.fox13now.com/news/local-news/new-bill-requires-renters-fees-be-included-with-price-of-rent.
An article from State of Reform featured my sponsored bill, HB 135 – Congregate Care Program Amendments. This is an important bill that will serve the large population of out-of-state youth that are in Utah’s residential therapeutic schools and programs. Here’s a link to the article if you’d like to know more about HB 135 and several other health bills in the House: https://stateofreform.com/featured/2021/02/five-new-health-bills-approved-by-utah-house-hhs-committee-including-expansion-of-congregate-care-for-homeless-youth/
